Funnel_Web_REF21.jpgFunnel Web Spider Atrax robustus

The Sydney Funnel web (and a few related atrax species) is the most dangerous spider in Australia (REF 17)

The Sydney Funnel-web spider is believed to be limited to an area of about 160 kilometres from the centre of Sydney. Other species of Funnel-Web spider are found in Eastern Australia, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. They are probably the most venomous aggressive spider in the world and all Funnel Web species are lethal to humans, not just the Sydney Funnel-web.

Bites are usually deep with venom being injected into the victim through a strong set of faings. It is important to get medical attention immediately even a small grazing bite is inflicted.
